Pediatrician Elle McCormick November 9, 2014 A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in treating children. They help with treating childrenââ¬â¢s mental, physical, and emotional problems. Pediatricianââ¬â¢s help with the overall well-being of the children they care for. They get health histories, do physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic test, diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, give health instructions, give referrals, and help ill and injured children. They take preventative measures for children that have good health, give medical care for sick children, and help with physical, mental, and emotional problems in children. Parents may need to provide their signs and symptoms, although, they may not be reliable. It just depends on their relationship with their child. In the medical history, the following things need to be included: major medical illnesses, surgeries and their complications, broken bones, large cuts, fractures, hospitaliz ation history, medication, allergies, immunizations, and the motherââ¬â¢s health during pregnancy, breastfeeding or bottle, when the child ate solid food, overview of their systems functions, cancer, diseases, and heart attack history in the family. sicknesses. The health of the mother during pregnancy would include: if the mother smoke or drank; if they had bleeding or sickness; the term of the pregnancy; how labor went. Pediatricians must also perform physicals. They need to get lots of data by observing. They should notice where the child is sitting. Pediatricians should be at eye level with the child. Physicals should be performed from the least to most scary things. A pediatrician should try to develop a good relationship with the child; they should tell the child what theyââ¬â¢re doing. A child should also be told if something will hurt. Vitals are taken during an exam. They record temperature, heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, weight, and height.
